What you need to know before you take OxyNorm oral solution
Do not take OxyNorm oral solution if you:
- oxycodone or any of the other medication components (mentioned in section 6 of this leaflet) causes an adverse reaction in them (hypersensitivity);
- have breathing issues, such as severe bronchial asthma, severe respiratory depression, or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. If you have any of these illnesses, your doctor would have informed you. Breathlessness, coughing, or very slow or weak breathing are some symptoms;
- have a disease called paralytic ileus in which the small bowel doesn’t function properly, delayed gastric emptying in which your stomach empties more slowly than it should, or significant abdominal discomfort;
- have a heart problem after long-term lung disease (cor pulmonale);
- have elevated blood carbon dioxide levels. Dizziness, sleepiness, weariness, shortness of breath, and headache are possible symptoms;
- have moderate to severe liver problems. If you have other long-term liver problems you should only take this medicine if recommended by your doctor;
- have ongoing problems with constipation;
- are under 18 years of age.
